Rev. Todd N. Jarrett

Rev. Todd N. Jarrett was born in Detroit, Michigan. As a preacher’s son, the call to ministry moved his family to different parts of the world. His family eventually settled in Chicago, Illinois, and they would make Chicago their home.  Rev. Jarrett is a lifelong member of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. As a layperson, he served in the capacity of a steward, class leader, and the young adult director of Christian Education for the Chicago District. Having served in these positions, his calling was confirmed. In 2003, he preached his trial sermon. He went on to receive full ordination and was appointed to pastor churches in Illinois, and Indiana, and was eventually given the honor to return home to Detroit and pastor the church of his birth, St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church.

Rev. Jarrett earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Chicago State University. He also pursued theological studies at Garrett Evangelical Seminary at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. In addition to studies at Chicago Theological Seminary at the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. As a bi-vocational pastor, Rev. Jarrett taught in the Chicago Public Schools for nearly 30 years until his retirement in 2017. During his tenure, he also served in leadership as the teacher representative on the Local School Council and a member of the National Association of Black School Educators.

Currently, Rev. Jarrett serves as chair of the Michigan Annual Conference Second Year Studies, Chair of the board of the Christian Education Department for the Michigan Annual Conference, Chairperson of the Budget Committee for the Detroit Western Michigan District, and a board member of the A.M.E. Zion Church Department of Communications.

Rev. Jarrett’s ministry has impacted communities through intentional discipleship, outreach, and an emphasis on improving the physical structure of the church as well as promoting spiritual growth according to the word of God.

Rev. Jarrett is married to the love of his life, LaTonya Lee, and they are the doting parents of one daughter, Amber Nia.
